Acne Program
The cause of acne has long been controversial, with a lot of misunderstanding. However, majority of medical experts agree that the cause of acne is directly related to the body’s hormones.
How Can Acne and Hormones Be Related?
There are many possible causes of acne, including hormonal imbalance. Hormones are responsible for the maturation of sebaceous glands. These glands reach their full maturity at puberty. Hormonal acne is quite common during puberty when the body produces androgens at a higher rate, which then stimulate sebum production and seborrhea (excess sebum production) – a cause of hormonal acne.
Acne and Hormones Affect Males and Females Differently
During puberty, the level of testosterone hormone increases in both males and females. In males, testosterone contributes to the development of the reproductive system. In females, this hormone contributes to the strengthening of muscles and bones. Testosterone, however, may sometimes trigger an acne breakout. That is the reason why 70% of teenagers have to deal with hormonal acne during puberty.
Oftentimes, hormonal acne continues to significantly increase even after teenage years. Over 40% of adults (aged 25 years up) – surprisingly, 75-85% of them are female – are sometimes affected by hormonal acne.
The main difference between male and female hormones lies on the fact that the level of the male hormone remains steady, while the level of female hormone fluctuates. Particularly during the ages of 20-40 years and during menopausal period, females tend to experience hormonal acne. Three major factors behind this are:
- Menstruation
- Pregnancy
- Menopause
Acne Causes, Types and Prevention
- Seborrhea (excess oil secretion) and hyperkeratosis (the thickening of the skin’s outer layer) are important factors leading to acne.
- The growth of bacteria can cause skin inflammation and acne.
- Acne can manifest several forms: blackheads, whiteheads, papules, and more.
- There are several ways to prevent and treat acne, as well as to take care of acne-prone skin. Using acne medication is an option, but there are also other non-medical options to prevent acne in the first place – e.g. by avoiding triggering factors.
Acne Program (45 Minutes)
This is a special acne treatment program to reduce acne inflammation and clogged pores, smooth skin texture, fade red marks and dark spots, as well as balance sebum production. The patient receives professional treatment, without prolonging the treatment duration.
Acne Treatment Procedure
- Cleanse the face according to the skin condition.
- Mask the face with glycolic acid for 1-2 minutes. Glycolic acid is an alpha hydroxy acid with the smallest molecules and, therefore, the most easily absorbed into the skin. It efficiently helps reduce acne inflammation, softens the acne head for ease of extraction, enhances skin radiance, as well as reduces red marks and dark spots.
- Wipe out with cold cotton pads.
- Hydrate facial skin cells with retreat spray.
- Apply acne mask to restructure skin cells, draw out toxin in pores, tighten pores, as well as reduce skin irritation and acne inflammation.
- Perform acne extraction, explain types of acne, and always check with the patient about pressure and comfort throughout the procedure.
- Cleanse the face with cold cotton pads.
- Apply Clinda M solution to improve the skin condition, then apply sunscreen.
